The China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, was established in 1957 in Guangzhou, China. Born during the early years of China’s economic reform, it was designed to boost foreign trade and showcase Chinese products to the world. As the country’s oldest and largest comprehensive trade fair, it quickly became a cornerstone of global commerce, bridging Chinese manufacturers with international buyers.
Today, it spans three phases per session, each highlighting different product categories, and attracts over 25,000 exhibitors and 200,000 global buyers annually.
The fair covers all major industries, divided into three phases:
Phase 1: Electronics, household appliances, machinery, and hardware.
Phase 2: Consumer goods, gifts, and home decorations.
Phase 3: Textiles, medical devices, and food.
Venue: Guangzhou Pazhou Complex (world’s largest exhibition center).
Exhibitors: Dominated by Chinese manufacturers (80%+), but increasingly features international companies (e.g., German industrial firms, Korean tech startups).
Buyers: Top sourcing destinations include the EU, U.S., Middle East, and emerging markets like Africa.
