What is sensor size of industrial camera?

The sensor size of an industrial lens refers to the diagonal length of the CMOS image sensor (Sensor) in the camera module, measured in inches. Due to historical reasons, in the field of electronic component imaging, 1 inch in the sensor size is equal to 16 mm, rather than the conventional 25.4 mm.

For example, the sensor size of 1/1.8” means that the diagonal length of the sensor is 1/1.8*16mm=8.89mm. And its width and height are 7.18*5.32mm respectively.

If the sensor size is large, the pixel size will also be large at the same pixel density, which will increase the photosensitive area of each pixel and is beneficial to improving the quality of the image. A large sensor size can also capture a larger field of view.
